It is no secret that smartphones They have become our cameras pocket, and today they are better than everwith incredible sensors and capabilities that, honestly, many of us would never have imagined would be possible more than a decade ago.

In the case of Samsungthe company has mobile phones with excellent cameras for both photography and making videos, but many times these videos need certain retouching to make them perfectjust how we want them to look when we share them with our friends, family or on social networks.

In One UI 6 the South Korean company has released a very capable video editing application, full of functions and possibilities to combine, edit and decorate our video clips. If you have already updated to the latest version of the operating system, this is what you need to know about its new video editing app.

This is Studio, the new video editing app for the Samsung Galaxy

Studio is an application that is almost hidden in the operating system. Almost, because although it is available on mobile, it doesn’t actually have its own application icon, unless you activate it. Otherwise, you will only be able to access it while editing a video.

To be able to easily access Studio, the first thing you have to do is go to the search bar from the mobile applications screen and write “Studio”. The first time you press the icon and access the app, the system will invite you to add Studio as a standalone app On your phone or tablet). It is advisable to do so.

Studio 1

Until One UI 5.1 it was possible to access a similar editor for video, but with fewer capabilities and, above all, less versatility and order when creating projects Of video. To do this, it was necessary to press the pencil button on a video in the gallery and, when in the quick editing screen, press the three-dot button and then “Create video”.

What Samsung has done with Studio is to create an independent application for video editing, which although it is not professional software in the style of Premiere, nor does it pretend to be, it is a very useful tool that is integrated directly into the system. This is all you can do.

Studio allows you to save multiple video projects in development, something that was not possible in the previous version of One UI

One of the most important news for this editor is that allows saving multiple projects in development to continue working on them in the future, this was not possible until One UI 5.1.

Studio 2

When you access Studio you can choose to create a new project and select both videos and images for the project. Once selected, they will be arranged in a Editing timeline. You can reorder the videos or clips by holding down each one and placing it in the position you want in the Timeline, and of course, you can work independently on each clip.

By clicking on a video or clip it will be highlighted and you can cut the video and divide it into two or more parts using the tools at the top, thus removing the parts you don’t want to include or cutting only the segment you will use in the project. An options bar will also appear on the inside of the screen, full of different tools.

If you click on the first icon, from left to right, it is possible to crop the size of the video (or enlarge it, for example), in addition to changing the position of the image or video. The second option allows adjust video volume and configure the audio to appear or disappear progressively. The third option allows you to change the speed of the video clip.

Studio 3

You can even apply filters to the videos or images in the project.

The fourth option allows you to apply a filter to the clip, with the same options that are included in image editing: in addition to choosing a filter, you can select its intensity. Finally, the fifth option allows Perform more detailed editing on aspects such as brightness, exposure, saturation and more.

It is possible to apply this type of editing to each of the clips or videos in the project Timeline. Furthermore, it is also possible modify the transition between videos by pressing the small button between each two clips and selecting from the possible options.

No less important: it is also possible add texts, using the font and color we want, and also stickers. You can choose exactly where in the video the text will appear, extending (or trimming) the length of the text in the Timeline, similar to how you can shorten the length of video clips.

Studio 4

Texts and stickers can be added by choosing the font, color, and position and orientation of the texts. You can also change the type of transition between clips.

Finally, other interesting and useful features of the application: allows you to add more videos or images to the project at any time, add music or audio clips that are stored on your mobile such as, for example, a narration that you record for the video, in addition to being able to add songs from a database included in the app. And it is also possible to configure the format or aspect of the video, between options such as 16:9, 9:16: 1:1 and others.

Studio is a fairly complete app, although it is not perfect. If there is anything I would like Samsung to include in an updatetion is the possibility of superimposing video clips on the Timeline main, so that we can use, for example, a background recording (with its own audio) while we add other shots or visual clips.

There are editing applications with more professional options, such as the excellent CapCut, but Studio is a fairly complete editor that is integrated directly into the operating system, so it is possible to use it without installing anything. You just need to update your mobile to One UI 6.0.
