The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is about to be announced. Most of the technical specifications have already leaked, while waiting to know more about the price of the GPU.
NVIDIA launched its GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card in early January, which was first announced as the RTX 4080 12GB. The Greens are expected to announce a slightly less powerful, but more affordable GPU soon: the RTX 4070, expected for the first quarter of 2023. And we already have some information to get our teeth into about it.
On Twitter, Matthew Smith, the publication’s GPU database manager TechPowerUp, claims that the RTX 4070 will feature a 1920 MHz clock rate that can reach up to 2475 MHz in boost. In comparison with the RTX 4070 Ti, it therefore benefits from 390 MHz less (135 MHz in boost mode). These numbers are for the Founders Edition model to be released by NVIDIA, but we can expect higher performance on custom graphics cards. For example, the Colorful-branded RTX 4070 iGame Ultra White OC should be overclocked to up to 2,505 MHz in boost.
The technical specifications are known, what about the price and the release date
The RTX 4070 would go into mass production in the month of February. We should soon receive an official communication from NVIDIA. The graphics card should be based on an AD104-250/251 GPU based on the new Ada Lovelace architecture and a 4nm engraving process from TSMC. From what we already know, the RTX 4070 should ship 5,888 CUDA cores, 12 GB of GDDR6X memory, a 192-bit interface, a bandwidth of 504 GB / s, all for computing power of 29 TFLOPS and a TGP of 200 W.
The price of the GeForce RTX 4070 has not yet leaked. This one is still in the factories and test labs, but we should get the first hints when traders start receiving information from NVIDIA, which shouldn’t take much longer. The RTX 4070 Ti is displayed from 899 euros in France, the RTX 4070 will therefore be a little cheaper. Given the difference in performance between the two GPUs, we can reasonably expect a price at least 100 euros lower.
