Reddit introduces new features to simplify the sharing of content on and from the platform that has been crunching record numbers for years now, one average of 57 million unique visitors per day and over 13 billion posts and comments since inception. In short, the popularity of Reddit is not in question, but some aspects such as sharing content did not go hand in hand.
And to admit it is the platform itself: “Previously when you came across a post, conversation or meme it was not easy to send it to others. If we’re being honest, the features were outdated and it took multiple steps to share anything.”. But now it’s changing, Reddit is committed to simplifying and at the same time enriching the platform. Here they are innovations introduced on the official apps for iOS and Android:
- preview and details of the link shared via messaging services
- the link includes a visual preview of the content, the name of the subreddit, the number of votes and comments
- possibility to share the content directly on Instagram Stories
- new share page with frequently used channels, so you can send content to others without leaving the Reddit app
- when taking a screenshot, the app asks if you prefer to share the full post
- introduction of a new toolbox that allows you to create an embed from a link to Reddit, so as to allow blogs and publications of various kinds to natively integrate Reddit content
