Previous generation Snapdragon and a huge battery
As usual, let’s start talking about the design. If we put him next to his older brother, The OnePlus 12R shows very, very similar lines. The camera module of this model is perhaps somewhat thinner (and more similar to that of the OnePlus 11), but the lines are traced.
Something that stands out is that the finish is shiny in blue and matte in black. And yes, although it is a different model, it seems that OnePlus learned its lesson a few generations ago and the OnePlus 12R has Alert Slider. This is the switch that allows you to switch between silence, vibration and sound easily and one of the brand’s most beloved features.
Otherwise, as we say, the design is very similar between both models. If we go to the front, we have a 6.78-inch screen with 1.5K+ resolution and a spectacular brightness of 4,500 peak nits. However, The most striking thing is that it incorporates LTPO 4.0 technology.
This allows you to switch between frequencies from 1 to 120 Hz and better adapt to the user’s scrolling speed. Depending on the speed at which we move our finger across the screen, the rate will vary between 60 Hz, 72 Hz, 90 Hz or 120 Hz if our movement is fast.
And to give life to this screen, OnePlus has opted for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is a SoC that we already know, that has powered the most powerful phones of 2023 (and that performed great in terms of efficiency in the OnePlus 11) and that It is accompanied by up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM.
Although I don’t have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3that combination of Qualcomm, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage, promises that the OnePlus 12R will be a very fluid mobile.
As for the system, it is updated to Android 14 with OxygenOS 14 and the battery is another of the terminal’s pillars. It has 5,500 mAh with 100 W charging which, according to the company, achieves a full charge in 26 minutes.
And, in the photographic section, We find the 50 megapixel Sony IMX890 as the main sensor. It is the same one we had in the OnePlus 11 and somewhat less ambitious than the OnePlus 12 or the OnePlus Open, but the company claims that they have worked on a series of their own algorithms so that it shines in any situation. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
