OPPO Pad 2 is official in China: the new generation tablet, practically identical to the OnePlus Pad already official for some time (and arrived in Italy in these days), from the manufacturer was presented in conjunction with the new top-of-the-range smartphones Find X6. Let’s start immediately from what is one of the most distinctive features, namely the rear camera module: instead of in the usual upper left corner it is located in the middle of the longer side, thus suggesting a use mainly in landscape. The module is circular and includes a single camera, a 13 MP with f/2.2 aperture with 5-element lens and autofocus support.

Another significant innovation compared to the previous model (but in general a sort of anomaly in the tablet sector) is the display format, a 7:5 which is “taller” than the traditional 16:9 or 16:10. The panel is an 11.61″ diagonal LCD, refresh up to 144 Hz and a resolution of 2,800 x 2,000 pixels. The design is now typical of the tablet world, with symmetrical frames on all four sides and rounded edges Oppo declares a screen-to-body ratio of 88%; there is room to include an 8 MP front camera, also in the center on the long side, with a 4-element lens, f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus Maximum brightness is 500 nits.

Oppo Pad 2 is placed in the high end of the market, thanks to the MediaTek Dimension 9000 chips, the 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and the 256 or 512 GB of internal UFS 3.1 storage. As for connectivity, we have Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, no variant with cellular modem. The USB Type-C port is a 2.0. As for multimedia, we have four speakers, one per corner, certified Dolby Atmos. Of course, the tablet’s operating system is Android 13, customized ColorOS.

Oppo also predicted nib and keyboard-cover, both with magnetic attachment to the tablet body. The nib should be unchanged from the one seen with the previous generation Pad. It has a latency of less than 2ms, and supports 4,096 pressure levels. The keyboard has well-spaced island keys and 1.3 mm of travel, and a trackpad with several unique gestures. The thickness is 7.5mm. It is powered directly by the tablet battery through the magnetic connection to the Pogo Pin. By the way: the battery has a typical capacity of 9,500 mAh, while the maximum charging speed is 67 W.

The device is offered in two finishes, gray (Nebula Grey) and champagne (Light Feather Gold). Pre-orders are open immediately in China, with deliveries starting in a few days. Prices are as follows:

  • 8+256GB: 2,999 renminbi, equal to €406
  • 12+256 GB: 3,399 renminbi, equal to €460
  • 12+512GB: 3,999 renminbi, equal to €542
  • Keyboard: 599 renminbi, equivalent to €81
  • Nib: 499 renminbi, equal to €67
