Layout and keyboard

The MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES has the same chassis as all the models in its series, so we won’t give it any points for creativity, and that also applies to its build quality, since it is a chassis made of plastic, which flexes in some parts, such as the screen lid and keyboard edges. Being a gaming laptop, the least we can expect is for it to be slim and light, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone to say that it has a 24.9mm profile and a weight of 2.25 kilos.

With that in mind, the bezels surrounding the screen are relatively thick and the touchpad is a bit small, so we’ll rate its design as mediocre. The most daring thing about the MSI C7VF-220XES is a 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard, which we can control from the MSI Center application to achieve a lighting effect according to our preferences. If we can give the keyboard a thumbs up, it not only looks cool with those transparent WASD keysbut also provides good travel and response when typing, not to mention that it is full size and includes number keys.

Bottom panel houses two speaker outputs. In addition, here we see several ventilation grilles and the heat pipes inside. The hot air comes out through these grilles and through an additional one on the left side of the device. When this equipment is put to work at its maximum (or to play) we will definitely feel the increase in temperature in these places, as well as in some parts of the keyboard.

Screen

The MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES is equipped with a 15.6-inch IPS screen with FullHD resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio and 144Hz refresh rate. We can praise its fluidity and GTG response time, making it suitable for enjoying video games with high frame rates per second and performing well in competitive titles. Likewise, it has a slightly higher brightness than usual (290 nits) and does not exhibit flickering at any brightness level.

The only valid complaint is that the color representation is mediocre, being sufficient for gaming and consuming multimedia content, but not for editing tasks where color accuracy is critical, since it barely covers the 45% NTSC gamut and 56% of sRGB.

The speakers are not much, but they do their job in an acceptable manner, providing a balanced sound, but with deviations in the high and mid tones that audiophiles will surely not miss.

Hardware and features of the MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES

Like the MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-233XES that we talked about the other day, this device is powered by a processor AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735HS, which consists of 8 cores and 16 threads at a base frequency of 3.2Ghz. It is accompanied by a respectable graphics card RTX 4060 8GB of video memory, not to mention the presence of 32GB DDR5 RAM in double channel. In terms of storage, a NVMe PCIe (Gen4x4) with 1TB capacity.

With that in mind, this combo of components is enough for most applications and video games that a user may try to run on the laptop. For example, the Ryzen™ 7 7735HS on board the MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES notes more than 14,000 points in the Cinebench R23 Benchmarkwhile the GPU achieves a score of 27,000 in 3DMark: Fire Strike.

As you might guess, this laptop has what it takes to run demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 at 60FPS with high graphics and 1080p resolution (with the help of DLSS). Meanwhile, Competitive titles like Valorant and Fortnite can surpass the 144FPS mark with competitive graphics settings.

In another vein, the team keeps temperatures under control using a cooling system with a shared heat pipe and two fans.

Everything sounds very good up to this point, but we must note thatl MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES does not include operating system by default, so we will have to install one before starting to play or work.

Autonomy

The battery always tends to be the Achilles heel of gaming laptops and the MSI Bravo 15 C7VF-220XES is no different from the rest in this regard. Its 53Wh battery can give us at most 7 hours of local video playback at half brightness and everything else OFF. In demanding scenarios, such as games, we can expect an hour and a half of use or two depending on the game.

Connectivity

At the wireless level the device consists of Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth 5.1, typical for a modern laptop. When it comes to physical connections, on the left side of the MSI C7VF-220XES laptop is the power plug, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and a USB 2.0 port.
