Confirmations arrive on the SoC that Motorola would have chosen for the flagship foldable, the Razr 40 Ultra. Geekbench findings, in general, should not be taken as an absolute truth but as indiscretions in which, moreover, one should not have excessive trust. But in this case the detection system of the portal indicates a SoC that has been widely discussed in the past weeks, so the background itself contains some less uncertainty.
Motorola Razr+ 2023 which we should be marketing as Razr 40 Ultra it will therefore, in all probability, have the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1which will be one year old in a few days but which is still chosen today by manufacturers for the very good balance between performance and consumption.
On a clamshell folding the efficiency is among the most important elements, generally having to deal with batteries with limited capacity compared to other form factors, and then choosing a recent but not very recent component such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 it is probably possible to keep the costs in a better way (with all due respect to Qualcomm).
The unit that allegedly took a spin on Geekbench also highlighted the presence of 8GB of RAM and Android 13. If there weren’t any doubts about this last aspect, someone could have had some about memory. In fact, so far there has been talk of 12 GB, but it is likely that 8 GB will constitute the basic equipment and then there is a version with more RAM, for those with specific needs.
There presentation Motorola’s Razr 40 Ultra shouldn’t be far off. According to the latest rumors it will be presented in Madrid at the beginning of June together with the new “economic” variant Razr 40 Lite.
