Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip5 will have a decidedly large external display, well 3.4 inches diagonal which will allow users to use it in most activities even when closed. The panel should have a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels and a density of 305 pixels per inch.

EXTERNAL DISPLAY WITH ”ELONGATED” SHAPE

Unlike Motorola, which for its next Razr 40 Ultra would have opted for three holes in the display for the cameras and flash, at least judging by the renders, Samsung seems to have instead chosen a sort of “extension” of the display which will occupy a portion of the space next to the cameras and where, always “probably”, small icons for notifications or shortcuts for apps, such as the dock, will be shown. A sort of that “second screen” that LG had created years ago for the V10, even if in that case it was an additional, small, display alongside the main one.

The alleged cover of the Galaxy Z Flip 5

Many renderings of the Galaxy Z Flip5 have arrived so far but to confirm what has been seen up to now, the well-known leaker Ice Universe today published the photo of an alleged cover for the Galaxy Z Flip5 which highlights the particular shape of the external display. Unlike the current Z Flip4, which has a display of only 1.9 inches, the next generation will also have the external cameras positioned horizontally instead of vertically, precisely to facilitate the integration of a larger panel.

Galaxy Z Flip5 therefore promises to be a decidedly interesting smartphone thanks also to the rest of the possible hardware specifications that would come from the adoption of a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED internal display, same diagonal as the current model, of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor supported by 12GB of RAM and two 12MP external cameras with ultra wide-angle optics. Dimensions should be 165×71.8×6.7mm (open). Furthermore, according to rumors, Samsung would also have reengineered the hinge to make it less visible and to allow a “drop” folding of the internal display.

Samsung could announce its new leaflets around July, probably a little earlier than the current August window. One of the possible interpretations of this decision, according to rumors, would be to “postpone” the launch of the iPhone scheduled for mid-September.
