In the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android a hidden function has been detected in the code and therefore not yet accessible by members of the beta testing program. Basically, the messaging platform is working on a tool that allows users to silence calls from unknown numbers while keeping track of them in the notification center and in the last calls list.

The function will be present in the menu Settings of the app and – as already mentioned at the beginning – it has not yet been activated. WABetaInfo however, it provides us with some more details by sharing the screen from which the user will decide whether or not to activate the tool itself. Once selected, it will allow WhatsApp to silence calls from numbers not present in our address book.

And not only will you be a little more sheltered from annoyances: the function will also allow you to reduce the risk of spam. At this moment it is still under development, however we expect it to be released soon in an upcoming beta. For the moment there are no indications on the development of the function for the iOS operating system.

In recent days WhatsApp has been working on the Newsletters: the first information on this new function has emerged from the APK code of the beta version, the latest developments confirm that the release times shouldn’t be too long.
