WhatsApp released a new update through the Google Play Beta program, bringing the version 2.23.6.12.
In the news, the application allowed some users to display profile photos in groups, something that was already being tested in the version for Desktop and iOS.
A few months ago, in the 2.23.4.18 beta update of WhatsApp for Android, WABetaInfo revealed that the app was developing functionality for profile icons in groups. The feature was already available for testing on iOS, but was still under development on Android.
In a new update, the feature has also arrived for some beta Android users via the Play Store.
As can be seen in the image below, you need to open a group to find out if you have been awarded the update, if you are a beta user on Android. The feature aims to help users identify other members in the group, making it easier for everyone to interact.
The feature can be useful in situations where members have the same name or don’t use a profile picture. If the user does not have a photo, WhatsApp will show the default empty image, allowing other users to recognize the member by name.
It is worth mentioning that the functionality is available for some beta users after installing the 2.23.6.12 update of WhatsApp for Android and will reach more accounts in the coming days. If no serious issues are found during testing, it should be publicly released in the coming weeks.
