This time Dominique Winter talks about his thoughts on which design aspects can come after the user experience (UX) and takes a look into a possible future in 30 years. 30 years ago, usability and usability were more relevant. UX then developed from usability over time. The tool metaphor was used for products. However, the design aspect of the UX is focused on experiencing the interaction and people particularly try to create a positive experience with their products.

However, when it comes to interacting with products, people often have a series of episodes of use and non-use. The sum of these episodes may create a relationship to the product in people. Dominique Winter is convinced that product development is moving from pure usability to experiencing interaction and will move even more towards designing the relationship level in the future.

It is then no longer just about creating a single positive experience, but rather creating a history of positive experiences that enables an emotional bond of one kind or another between the user and the product. The aspect of the partner becomes stronger, especially with machines that communicate much more naturally with people. Of course, successful products still need UX as a design aspect. Without positive user experiences, products do not create a positive user relationship. Likewise, a good user experience needs good usability.
