In her keynote speech at the 2021 autumn campus, Dr. Carola Lilienthal takes the audience on a journey through 50 years of software development. The five decades were marked above all by a surprising phenomenon: developers and software architects not only created new technologies and architectural approaches, but also developed methods and procedures that go beyond the pure programming of software.

In the effort to keep finding solutions to problems, for example to detect errors in program code at an early stage, software developers and architects have taken many new innovative paths that still have an impact today. This not only benefits the software developers themselves, but also project managers, users, and those responsible for operations and quality.

In the lecture, Lilienthal reports on her many years of project experience in software development, which she has also compiled in the book “Long-lived Software Architectures”.

is Managing Director of WPS – Workplace Solutions GmbH – and has over 25 years of experience in software development. She has led software projects for various clients and industries. In 2015 she published the book “Long-lived Software Architectures”.
