At the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S24, it was presented Galaxy AI, the Artificial Intelligence with which it brands aims to lay the foundations for the first mobile phones with generative AI. The good thing is that now we know which other models from the firm will be able to enjoy some of these functionalities at some point.
It must be taken into account that these types of functions demand a lot from smartphones, hence Galaxy AI will not be included in all of the brand’s old mobile phones. Although, there are some models in its catalog that may be lucky enough to use some of the AI ​​functions that Samsung has released. Like, for example, the Galaxy S23.
Old phones that will have Galaxy AI
It is not yet known what the exact date is for the AI ​​to be released on these mobile phones. But what is known is that not all Galaxy AI functions will be able to be used. In fact, it is said that you can only have 4 AI functions on those smartphones prior to the new Samsung Galaxy S24.
The key is in the processor. It must be taken into account that to make use of these functionalities, performance is vital. Even the processors that the new Galaxy S24 have are designed to make use of these AI functions.
In this case, the list that Samsung confirms with previous Galaxy phones (and tablets) that will be able to enjoy some of these qualities are:
- The Samsung Galaxy S23.
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S9.
So not only will it reach more mobile phones from the South Korean firm, but it can also be released on its tablets. Although, at the moment, it is unknown what exactly the Galaxy AI functions that will later land on these manufacturer’s devices. What is clear is that more users will be able to benefit from the advantages of using the brand’s generative AI.
Among the various rumors and leaks, within the Samsung website in the United Kingdom it has been possible to see the 4 functions that the Galaxy S23 will have in the future. And they are:
- Live translator– You can translate calls in real time.
- Circle to search: Used to search for elements that appear on the screen by circling what you want to search for.
- Note Assistant– to sort or create templates, for example.
- Photo Assist: offers a series of functions within the Samsung Gallery app, such as suggesting touch-ups on photos or automatic edits to delete objects, for example.
The exact date of arrival of these features to these previous Samsung models is unknown. Although, there is talk that they would be in the first half of 2024. And the strongest rumor is that they may be released together with the version of One UI 6.1 for these brand smartphones and tablets. In any case, this list of AI functions is not definitive, so we will have to wait for the next operating system update for these models.
