It’s been said for months, but it’s still true today: the price of graphics cards has never been so low for months. To date, the RTX 3000 and RX 6000 are available on average at a price 10% above MSRP. Not yet at the stage we are all waiting for, but we are getting closer and closer. And for good reason: the release of the RTX 4000, too, is getting closer…

We’re almost there friends, we’re almost there. Since the beginning of the year, the price of Nvidia and AMD graphics cards have continued to drop. The process is particularly long but it is there. Whereas the RTX 3000 and RX 6000 traded on average at a price 80% above the MSRP last December, it fell to 25% above the MSRP a few weeks ago.

Today, prices have fallen again to a level that we did not even dare to hope for a few months ago. On average, the RTX 3000 and RX 6000 are available at a price 10% above the recommended price by builders. 10% is unheard of since 2020 and it would be hard to believe. Fortunately, some prizes are still there to bring us back down to earth.

Graphics cards at an almost normal price, we believe we are dreaming

Indeed, the RX 6700 XT, RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, or the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 are approximately a price 22% above the MSRP. A finding that is ultimately not surprising since these are still the most sought-after models to date – ironically, moreover, for their more affordable prices for some. But still, 22% is still a marked improvement over last year.

Thus, we might be tempted to tell you that there has never been a better time to buy yourself a graphics card, whether to finally complete your new setup or to upgrade it. But it is necessary to measure the matter a little. This fall in prices is not due to chance. If the manufacturers have certainly managed to boost their production a little, it is good the upcoming arrival of the new generation who originated it.

With a presentation next July, the RTX 4000s already promise to revolutionize the market. By way of comparison, the most entry-level model would make it possible to obtain ray tracing performance similar to the RTX 3090. Suffice to say that many players have decided to be a little more patient in the hope of getting a better deal by this summer.
