We do not lack options to create a secure password for each app or web service that we use on a daily basis. We not only have password managers, which include functions that help us choose an appropriate one, but also some options built into web browsers.

Following this line, Microsoft Edge is going to add a new option that will tell users the difficulty level of their password. We tell you what it is about.

New option in Microsoft Edge to create a password

Microsoft’s web browser already has some options that allow us to manage our passwords without depending on third-party tools.

However, the Microsoft team wants to give users extra help by adding a new option that will tell you if the password they have chosen is safe. That is, every time you sign up for a website or sign in, Microsoft Edge will tell you how difficult your password is to crack.

A dynamic that we have already seen in various password managers, along with other options, that help us when using or not the chosen code. But in this case, you will have this function integrated directly into the web browser. Apparently, Edge will summarize the degree of difficulty in Weak, Moderate and Hard.

Of course, it won’t stop you from using the password, but it will serve as a slap on the wrist if you’ve chosen one that doesn’t seem secure. In that case, you can use another of Microsoft Edge’s functions, the password generator.

An option that is automatically activated when you register on a website or web platform, showing a password as a suggestion. You can take it and save it automatically in the browser’s built-in manager, or skip it and write your own option.

At the moment, this new option, which reveals the degree of difficulty of a password, is in the testing phase in some of the beta versions of the web browser. So we will have to wait to see it in the stable version of Microsoft Edge.
