MediaTek communicated on Weibo that in early May it will announce the Dimension 9200+. Like the SoC from which it derives, the new one will also be a concentrate of technology, it will contain the best that the Taiwanese company has available at the moment. It is not clear whether the novelty will be presented with an online event or a press release will arrive before it appears on the official portal, certainly the details will be known Wednesday 10 May while Google will open I/O 2023 in Mountain View.

The Dimensity 9200+ will be an update of the Dimensity 9200 project, which in turn is among the competitors of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Between the two, however, there is a clear difference, some would say abysmal, in terms of implementations: Qualcomm’s product has won the direction of dozens of top of the range, while MediaTek’s has not had much luck. Perhaps for this reason the company has decided to intervene, to put its hand on the project to give it a refresh and hope, who knows, for a A new start.

In the past MediaTek also launched a Plus variant of the Dimensity 9000, focusing on improving performance in relation to consumption, therefore efficiency. The job, judging by the satisfactory results on a recently tested smartphone like Find N2 Flipit was good, in MediaTek they hope to revive the fortunes of a Dimensity 9200 hitherto used only on Vivo X90 and X90 Pro, and on Oppo Find X6: Dimensity 9200+ will have to be more attractive.
