The workshop on the world’s most used CMS shows in practical exercises how to install WordPress and use it to set up, operate and maintain websites.

WordPress dominates the market for content management systems: The former blogging software is behind almost every second website worldwide. While still used by countless personal blogs, it is no longer limited to this niche. WordPress serves all kinds of needs, from minimalistic web business cards to respectable company homepages to large news sites.

As nice as the widespread use is – the complexity of the system also grew with it. This can be overwhelming when setting up a new website with WordPress for the first time or taking over an existing website. Although there are numerous tutorials, help and tips for administrators and users on the Internet, that doesn’t necessarily make things any easier: WordPress is constantly being further developed and therefore not every source is up-to-date and suitable for the version of WordPress used. In addition, some of the alleged “best practices” were simply never good and certainly not “best”. It can be difficult for newcomers and career changers to find what they are looking for, not overlook what is important and what is outdated or just plain wrong.

The c’t workshop “WordPress for Beginners” offers a fundamental and well-founded introduction to the current version of the CMS by a proven expert and is aimed at anyone who wants or needs to deal with the system in more detail for the first time. Regardless of whether you want to take responsibility for an existing WordPress site, want to migrate an existing website to WordPress or set up a completely new site with the CMS: In the workshop you can gain practical experience with the system under competent guidance.

In several sections, the practice-oriented online event deals with everything from the configuration of the system, through everyday and less everyday work with and on the CMS to the expansion of WordPress with plug-ins and what you have to pay attention to. The participants follow each section directly in the workshop on test systems and thus reinforce what they have learned. In case of problems, help is immediately available.

Due to the great demand, we are offering the workshop several times, the next date is on September 6th. The event takes place online and lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; An up-to-date browser is sufficient to participate. If you hurry and book by August 9th, you will get a 10% early bird discount and the workshop for 495.00 euros. Further information on the event and details on how to register can be found on the voonze events workshop page.
