Android 13: LineageOS 20 is released for Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy A72 and Motorola and Xiaomi phones

Update (01/19/2023) – FM

LineageOS 20 is the new version of one of the most popular Android custom ROMs. Available for several cell phones that stopped receiving software updates from manufacturers, the operating system became available for six new models from Samsung, Nokia and Motorola this Thursday (19).

After the release of versions with support for POCO X3, Mi 6 and other Xiaomi phones, the developers of LineageOS 20, based on Android 13, released the operating system for the following models: Galaxy A52, Galaxy A72, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Motorola One Action and Motorola One Vision.

The Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 officially received Android 13 from Samsung, but for those who prefer a cleaner operating system than One UI 5.0, LineageOS 20 should be an ideal option as it is closer to “pure” Android.

Released in 2018, Nokia 6.1 and its “Plus” variant have not received new software versions since their update to Android 10. The Motorola One Action and have only been updated up to Android 11. With LineageOS 20, old models may have a new “breath of life” when they have the new features of Android 13.

It is worth remembering that these advantages come at the cost of its complexity for installation, requiring technical knowledge about recovery images for Android. In addition, it is necessary to install Google applications via flash to access the Play Store. Therefore, we do not recommend inexperienced users to carry out the process.

LineageOS 20: POCO X3 and other Xiaomi models receive ROM support

Users of some smartphones from Xiaomi You can now install the ROM Lineage OS 20. Previously, some Sony models were able to receive the OS update based on Android 13. Now, the models that can use the software are: POCO X3, Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and SHIFT SHIFT6mq.

Currently, this is considered to be the most well-known alternative version among users of the Google operating system. In this sense, LineageOS 20 aims to bring the experience of the latest versions of the program to some smartphone models that do not receive this support.

However, the idea does not stop there, since the software brings some new elements, such as an alternative camera app called “opening“. In addition, LineageOS 20 brings with it the December 2022 security patch for these aforementioned phones and several others that support Android.

Some of the elements have been added recently, with the ROM based on Android 13 QPR1, such as tighter integration with the system’s Material You design. In general, you can’t encourage this practice of changing your smartphone’s ROM, but for those who are familiar with the subject, it ends up being a way to update a reasonably old device.

Another detail worth mentioning is that the user also needs to add the GApps (Google Apps) via flash manually so you have access to play store. Otherwise, the operating system files can be found on the XDA Developers website, but remember: it’s at your own risk.
