The application Google Home received an update that added improvements to software navigation and design. Updates introduced some splash screen changes and the redraw and remap ofthe lighting controls.

As pointed out on the website 9to5Google, version 3.0 of Google Home added a notification bell icon at the top of the Favorites tab on the Home page. When you touch it, it opens an “Inbox” feed, the old “Activity” tab.

In version 3.0 of the app, Google changed the bell icon in the bottom bar to better reflect the objective, while keeping the name “Activity”. Google Home is changing the tab to only show what was previously the “History” view.

Meanwhile, a redesign for Google Home’s lighting controls is in the works. being released with the 3.1 version, which is currently on the dogfood channel. The circular power button surrounded by a glow ring has been replaced by a large pill.

The main change inthe lighting controls it’s more color controls with a grid of presets appearing below, while a FAB slides a sheet for Temperature (bar) and Color (circular dial).

These fine-grained controls are something people have been asking for for a while and were teased by the product team last year. The update to the public version 3.0 is available on the Play Store for all users.
