Information released this week suggests that Amazon is negotiating the purchase of video giant MX Player, an Indian company that may soon become another subsidiary of the e-commerce giant. According to TechCrunch, the American brand is discussing with Times Internet the possibility of acquiring the service in the coming months.

Despite the interest in the purchase, specialists are concerned about the chances of this transaction actually being carried out, so it is necessary to wait for more details in the coming weeks. This acquisition should expand the performance of big tech in the streaming segment, complementing the performance of Prime Video, Amazon’s own platform.

The terms of the agreement remain confidential, but three sources say that this interest is being guided by the directors of both companies. In 2018, the Times Internet conglomerate bought MX Player for US$ 140 million, about R$ 736 million in direct conversion considering the current price, currently adding more than 300 million users.

The application is available both on Google Play and the App Store, delivering wide multi-device compatibility and becoming OTT streaming in 2019. Amazon has not taken a position on these rumors, so we do not know what the company’s interests are with this possible purchase, but certainly involves expanding beyond Asia.
