WhatsApp is continuing to develop and beta test new features that may come to everyone in future updates to the app. Among these, a decidedly interesting function was introduced in the latest betas.

TESTING THE MULTI ACCOUNT FUNCTION

After releasing the “companion” mode, which allows users to be able to use their own account on up to 4 other devices – iOS, Android, Windows, Web or Mac – the Meta group company is now testing a feature that will allow you to access multiple WhatsApp accounts from the same devicewhich is definitely very useful especially if you use two SIMs on the same device.

Currently, the only possibility to be able to use Whatsapp with a second account it’s just to “clone” the appwhich is natively allowed only on some Android smartphones but not on iOS where the only alternative is to use the “business” version of Whatsapp in addition to the traditional one.

The possibility of using a second account was found for the first time on the Business version of WhatsApp for Android, on the 2.23.13.5 beta available on the Google Play Store. As reported by WaBetaInfo, however, there would be “traces” of this feature even in the classic version of the messaging app. It is not known if there will or may not be a limit more accounts you can add.

Once a second account has been added, it will be possible to manage conversations separately, which will guarantee users greater privacy. To switch from one account to another, simply select it quickly using a special selector which, as visible in the screenshot above.

VIDEO MESSAGING ON IOS AND ANDROID

Whatsapp is also working on the development of short “circular” video messages (with a maximum duration of 60 seconds), faster and less invasive than the classic recording and sending of a video. This feature, first seen in the 23.6.0.73 beta version of the iOS app, was later also found in the 2.23.8.19 beta version of Whatsapp for Android.

A few weeks later, this feature is now also present in the latest WhatsApp for iOS beta update 23.12.0.71, available via TestFlight, and the WhatsApp for Android beta update 2.23.13.4 available on the Google Play Store.

To record a short message, just click on the appropriate button at the bottom right which, once the function is available, will be identified by a video camera. When sending or receiving a video message you will have to enlarge it by tapping it to hear the audio as well. To use the feature, the recipient must also have it turned on.

Video messages, like all messages on Whatsapp, they are end-to-end encrypted, which guarantees maximum privacy by preventing any type of unauthorized access, listening or viewing. Although it is not possible to forward messages directly to other users, for greater privacy, it will still be possible to save them via screen recording as they are not sent using the “view once” mode.

RECALL KEY IN MISSED CALL NOTIFICATIONS

We conclude today’s news with a new feature under development and testing on the Windows app. After introducing support for screen sharing, WhatsApp is now adding small improvements regarding missed calls as well.

In particular, in the latest beta available on the Microsoft Store, WhatsApp introduced a “Recall” key that appears in a missed call notification. By implementing this feature, WhatsApp wants to better highlight missed calls and the ability to call back.
