The evolution of WhatsApp is made up of continuous changes: the macroscopic ones, such as the migration of data from Android to iOS, are less and take place more slowly, while the minor ones are continuous and not always easy to notice.
The novelty we are talking about today belongs to the second category, that of small and frequent changes. The first time it appeared on the beta channel of WhatsApp it was May: in that case, however, it was not yet a feature implemented on the surface, and therefore usable by users but a dormant and hidden potential in the code waiting to be activated. . Here: that moment has arrived today.
With the version 2.22.17.8 of the beta of WhatsApp for Android, in fact, the little news for status updates. But what is it exactly?
The screenshot above, shared by WABetaInfo, explains this explicitly. In essence, status updates now become visually richer and more complete the moment you choose to use them to share a link. In fact, the preview of the links changes, with the hierarchies that are overturned. If in the previous version (on the left) the address was the most visible element, in the new one it is instead the preview that is placed at the center of attention, with more generous dimensions and the link below, at the bottom.
At the moment, as mentioned, the news has landed on the beta of WhatsApp for Android: traces of the change were also found months ago in the app for iOS, and therefore we know that soon the counterpart for the iPhone will be updated accordingly. We do not know, however, how long it will take before the development team brings the feature even on the stable version.
