This Friday (12), we have the official release of the acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and although this is the first time that many Nintendo Switch owners are playing the title, we know that some “smart guys” decided to take advantage of the leak premature title to play it illegally.

As much as Nintendo has started a real witch hunt since the leak happened, even mitigating the action of some emulator developers, there are still many tools like this available, such as Yuzu, one of the most popular Switch emulators.

Speaking of Yuzu, a player decided to test the new Zelda on a Steam Deck through the emulator and recorded a video showing the game’s performance on Valve’s console.

When the Steam Deck was announced, many called it the “Nintendo Switch killer”, and although it has more powerful hardware than the Nintendo console, we know that the Japanese giant’s games are optimized to work better on their consoles, having poor performance in emulators, even on more powerful machines.

The user who shared videos of new zelda’s performance on the Steam Deck mentions that he didn’t encounter any graphical issues at the start of the game. According to Reddit user ‘Wildarmtin’, frame rates hover around 20-30FPS with the Yuzu’s default settings and performance is on par with Breath of the Wild on Steam Deck. For this video, the latest major version of Yuzu was used (version 1428).

Performance is fluctuating between 20-30fps, boots without boot mod, just played up to 1st shrine and didn’t have any graphical issues, pretty much perfect graphically so far. All Yuzu settings are default, using vulkan, normal gpu precision. It’s working almost the same as BOTW.

Apparently, Nintendo may soon have a next target to try to prevent its intellectual properties from being misused.
