Safari on iPhone, address bar search is causing crashes

Several reports of bugs related to the iPhone version of Safariwhich apparently is undergoing crashes during searches made via the address bar. This is reported by some users who in support indicate very specific conditions. Apparently, Safari has crashed on several occasions in the last few hours when entering three letter sequences such as “bes”, “wal” or “tar” in the address bar. The reason is not known but one of the possible causes could be a Google server-side problem.

To complicate everything is the inability to reproduce the problem, since it does not happen to everyone but only with some users. It so happens that, depending on the case, Safari crashes without further input, or when a space is inserted at the end of the query.

But there is a constant, or at least, an element that unites the cases that have emerged. The users who reported the bug seem to come almost exclusively from California and Florida, and the default search engine on Safari seems to be only Google in the current cases. Apple is hiding for now and has not provided answers regarding the bug, consequently an official solution is missing.

At the moment the only advice we can give, in the event that the problem also extends to Italy, is to install a different browser or use an alternative search engine to prevent Safari from crashing until the correction of the problem will not be fully implemented.

As this appears to be a server-side issue, it remains to be seen whether it will be up to Apple or Google to implement the fix. We will find out in the next few hours but for the record it is good to say that, in fact, the reports are already decreasing. While waiting to learn more let us know if your browsers have also been affected.

Speaking of browsers, did you know that Safari is currently second in the ranking with the maximum number of users who use it? In first place is the stainless Google Chrome.
