With the growth in popularity of online and mobile games, developers have seen a new way to profit from these products and while some players are completely against the practices of some titles, such as the recent Diablo Immortal, a recent survey by Newzoo revealed that almost half of Europeian players invest money in additional in-game purchases.

Europe is the fifth largest video game market in the world, with more than 101 million players on consoles, PC and mobile. According to new research by Newzoo, 43% of Europeian gamers invest money in the games they play and the main incentives are unlocking additional content or customizing characters.

Other players also revealed that they pay to make the gaming experience easier, play with friends or family (Xbox Live Gold) and even get subscriptions (Game Pass / PS Plus) as part of the main reasons to invest additional money in their games.
