For a few days we know the next one May 10th to the historian Shoreline Amphitheater of Mountain View will be held on Google I/Othe conference dedicated to developers during which, especially in recent years, we don’t just talk about material from nerd. According to rumor from a few hours ago it could be the debut stage for Pixel 7a and for the much talked about and equally awaited first Mountain View leaflet, the Pixel Fold.
Likely, however, that like a year ago, there will be time and space to take a look at the two top-of-the-range products in the traditional format which will then be seen in the autumn. Pixels 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. It happened in 2022 with Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and at present we have no elements to believe that in 2023 it will not go the same way. Indeed, the clues that suggest a quite rich appetizer on Pixel 8 Pro at the next I/O they just arrived thanks to the punctual On Leaks.
As is now customary Google does not seem to have bothered to strengthen the security mesh, in order to keep the upcoming news secret and arrive at the “therefore” with something new to tell the enthusiasts. For some years now, for those who follow the news, the official presentations of Mountain View devices may not even be there, e it seems that the Pixel 8 Pro star also lit up early for the importance and clarity of the material obtained by OnLeaks. However, it is probable that in a few days we will have the same type of material on the Pixel 8.
From the insider’s GIF comes a portrait of a Pixel 8 Pro with softer, more sinuous lines. Obvious aesthetic changes, however, without any revolution for the camera group: on the next generation the “pill” that contains the sensors should enclose them all, leaving out only the LED flash and a small sensor (or a laser autofocus?) just below of a still unknown type . A more symmetrical glance and symmetry has an important influence on the human eye.
IT WILL BE A LITTLE SMALLER
On the opposite surface, however, giving birth to novelties on devices that now aim to maximize the area occupied by the screen is much more difficult, so there probably won’t be any macro changes. The OnLeaks renders seem to confirm that everything will remain where it is now, including the hole for the selfie camera in the center of the top since the solution on display it is scenic but does not give sufficient guarantees in terms of quality.
OnLeaks says that the more rounded shape of the frame and the efforts of the designers to file the frames around the display which were already quite contained on the Pixel 7 Pro will return a Pixel 8 Pro with slightly smaller dimensions despite the panel with a slightly larger diagonal, a consequence of the “filed” to the frames:
- The Pixel 7 Pro measures 162.9 x 76.6 x 8.9 mm
- Pixel 8 Pro could measure 162.6 x 76.5 x 8.7 mm.
Little is known about the technical characteristics. The presence of the third generation Tensor chip or the Tensor G3 is almost certain, there are only speculations on the details. It is rumored that by virtue of the collaboration between Google and Samsung it could be derived from the Exynos 2300 which however has never become official, and that it can be made (by Samsung, of course) with a 3 nanometer production process.
Needless to say more for the moment, a lot the rumor mill about Pixel 8 and 8 Pro has just started. From here to May there will be some good ones.
