That’s it, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Pro + are launched in France. On the program, increased performance, an improved photo part, but these improvements come at a higher price.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro

Last October, Xiaomi launched its new Redmi Note 12 in China, smartphones with unbeatable value for money. In the end, we had to wait almost 5 months to see them arrive at our house. Only four models are launched in France, the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Unfortunately, the famous Discovery Edition version with its 210 W fast recharge is not on the program for the moment.

The Redmi Note 12 and 12 5G finally go to 120 Hz

The Redmi Note 12 and 12 5G finally inherit one of the flagship features of the most expensive models in the series: a 120 Hz screen. Previously limited to 90 Hz, the 6.67 AMOLED FHD + panel should allow smartphones to look much smoother than before.

As for performance, the Redmi Note 12 is this time equipped with a Snapdragon 685 processor, while the 12 5G model benefits from a more powerful Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip.

Both smartphones are powered by a 5000 mAh battery, which will have to make do with 33W fast charging. Still no improvement on this point in this price range.

On the photo side, the Redmi Note 12 benefits from 3 cameras, including a main 48 MP, an ultra-wide-angle of 8 MP and a macro sensor of 2 MP. Version 12 5G uses the same scheme, but replaces the main sensor with a 50 MP camera. The selfie camera is 13 MP.

As on previous models, some concessions have been made. Smartphones do not have Wi-Fi 6, and the cheapest model will not be, as its name suggests, compatible with 5G networks.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G puts the package in pictures

On its new smartphones, Xiaomi has chosen to use a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, much more powerful than the previous Snapdragon 695. Users should therefore see a big difference in performance. On the screen side, fewer changes, we always find a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi promises support for Dolby Vision, peak brightness at 900 nits, and Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it all.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G will be powered by a 5000 mAh battery, which is compatible with 67W fast charging. We should therefore not notice any major changes in terms of autonomy compared to the previous generation.

It is especially on the photo part that Xiaomi has decided to see bigger. The smartphone is now equipped witha 50 MP IMX766 (OIS) main camera, which can be found in some of the best devices on the market in this field. Whether it’s the Find X5 Pro, the Honor Magic 4 or the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, all use the same sensor. It is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra wide-angle sensor, as well as an anecdotal 2 MP macro sensor which we would not have gone well without. The selfie part is provided by a 16 MP camera.

Finally, we can note that the smartphone weighs only 187 grams for dimensions of 162.9 x 76 mm x 7.9 mm. It’s also IP53 certified for water and dust resistance, and uses dual Dolby Atmos stereo speakers as well asa 3.5mm jack.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G benefits from two major improvements

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is not very different from the Pro model, but still brings two big changes. We still find the same MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, 6.67-inch 120 Hz AMOLED screen, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, jack and IP53 certification.

However, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is this time powered by a 5000mAh battery, compared to 4500 mAh for the previous Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. In addition to the increased capacity, charging also promises to be ultra-fast with a maximum power of 120 W. This will allow you to fully charge it in just 19 minutes.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro+

On the photo side, Xiaomi also sees a little bigger. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is entitled to a 200 MP main camera a bit smaller than the one found on last year’s top-end Xiaomi 12T Pro. It is still accompanied by the other 8 MP ultra wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 16 MP selfie sensors. Note also that if the general dimensions are the same as the Pro model, the thickness this time increases to 8.98 mm.

Price and availability

With all these improvements and the price increase on the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro, it was also to be expected that the prices of the mid-range models would go up.

The Redmi Note 12 is available from 229.90 euros (199€ in early bird) in 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, and 249.90 euros in 4 GB of 128 GB of storage.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G is launched from 399.99 euros for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It will take 429.99 euros for 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and 469.99 euros for 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

On his side, the Redmi Note 12 Pro + is offered at 499.90 euros in its only version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, i.e. 50 euros more than the previous Redmi Note 11 Pro +, but which was launched with 6 GB and 128 GB. The two cheapest models are marketed in gray , green and blue, while the Pro and Pro+ models are available in three colors: blue, white and black.
