Google invites you to a live event on October 6th in New York, which can also be followed online. Under the motto “Made by Google”, the invitation video promises smartphones, earbuds and a smartwatch. This should include the launch of the previously announced Pixel 7 cell phones and Google’s first own smartwatch, the Pixel Watch.
The Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel Tablet and Pixel Watch were already announced at Google I/O in May, but so far only the Pixel 6a Android smartphone has been officially released. Now the high-end mobile phone Pixel 7 in different versions as well as the Pixel Watch should follow – just in time for the Christmas business. However, the invitation does not mention the Pixel Tablet.
Pixel 7 and Watch in Google’s online store
Google already lists the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro as well as the Pixel Watch in the own online shop, but so far you can only be put on a mailing list. Even pre-orders are not yet possible. Detailed information has not yet been disclosed. Google has at least given its Tensor SoC, which was previously referred to as the “next generation”, a name: It runs under the name “Tensor G2”.
It is still not known on which chip the new Pixel Watch is based. Also offers here Google’s online store just a mailing list for information. At the Google I/O, the company only said that the smartwatch would run Wear OS 3 and be launched alongside the Pixel 7 smartphones. While the competition from Apple and Samsung have been offering smartwatches for years, the Pixel Watch is Google’s first foray into this market segment.
First patch for Android 13
Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro ship with Android 13, but the smartphone OS has been rolling out to previous Pixel phones since last month. Now there is the first patch. Google’s September update for models from Pixel 4 is intended to fix problems with discharging too quickly, wireless charging that doesn’t work and Bluetooth devices not being recognized. The patch doesn’t include the new Pixel 6a yet. This cell phone is due to receive its own update later this month, which should fix problems with fingerprint recognition, for example.
Google has an interesting time for that Invitation to the October event elected – just before Apple’s September event, which will take place this Wednesday. iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8 and more will probably be shown there.
