Moto Razr 2022: Motorola’s new foldable is now official

Motorola today held a launch event in China to announce three phones: Moto Razr 2022, Moto X30 Pro and Moto S30 Pro.

The newly introduced Razr 2022 is a foldable device that features the latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, as well as a 144Hz P-OLED panel, a secondary screen, two 50-megapixel cameras on the rear, and a large battery that can be can charge fast.

The Motorola Razr 2019 and Razr 5G featured a notch in the display, a large chin, and a single rear camera. The Razr 2022 offers a renewed design, as it has a perforated design for its folding inner screen.

The chin of the device has been trimmed down a lot and it features a dual-camera setup at the rear.

Like previous models, the Razr 2022 continues to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device’s slimmer and more durable hinge allows users to bend it to different angles.

The 2022 Moto Razr features a 6.7-inch foldable P-OLED panel with FHD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, HDR10+ and DC Dimming. The rear panel of the device has a 2.7-inch P-OLED screen. The secondary screen can be used as a viewfinder for the rear cameras, to check messages or even to play games.

Above the secondary display is a horizontal dual camera setup, headed by a 50 megapixel camera with OIS. It is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, which can also function as a macro. The hole in the screen houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

chipset Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 it is present in the Moto Razr 2022. The device offers up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device boots with the Android 12 operating system, which is accompanied by MyUI 4.0.

The device comes with support for Ready For 3.5, which allows users to connect it to an external device to take advantage of a full desktop PC experience.

The Moto Razr 2022 is powered by a 3,500mAh battery which has support for 33W fast charging. The device offers connectivity features like Dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port.

Price and availability of the Moto Razr 2022

These are the prices of the different variants of the Moto Razr 2022:

• 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB of storage – 5,999 yuan (~860 euros)
• 8 GB of RAM + 256 GB of storage – 6,499 yuan (~934 euros)
• 12 GB of RAM + 512 GB of storage – 7,299 yuan (~1,049 euros)

The Razr 2022 is available in black and white. The device will be available for purchase starting August 15 in China. It is also expected to hit the global market in the coming months.
