Microsoft Surface Duo users complain about bugs after updating to Android 12L

Microsoft has released an update for the Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 that finally brings foldable tablets to Android 12L — nearly a year after the operating system was released. Despite the long waiting period, device users are reporting a number of issues with the new software version🇧🇷

Consumers list different bugs occurring on their devices after receiving the update. The Microsoft Community has several reports of issues with mobile data routing. “When I activate the hotspot, it automatically deactivates and causes the settings app to crash,” complains a Duo 2 user.

The same forum member states that he “could mention other bugs” found on the device after installing Android 12L, but “this one is the worst of them all”. Other users, who own the first generation of the Surface Duo, claim that the same annoyance is occurring on their devices.

On Reddit, the user JMC01tflyingscotsman published a list of bugs it faces since updating to the version adapted for large screens of Android 12. For him, the worst bug found after the update it’s the “endless” voice calls that don’t end after closing the phone app—you need to restart your tablet.

Furthermore, the system seems to be forcing the modem to work with the 3G network. “My phone is using 3G in places where I’m sure there is 4G or 5G connectivity because that’s what I used to have before the update [para o Android] 12L”, he reports.

Shane Craig, host of the eponymous YouTube channel who discovered the Surface Duo’s “desktop mode”, grouped all the problems reported by users in a big list with 36 bugsfrom errors in displaying applications on the home screen, inability to switch sound and silent, crashes and even instabilities in the Bluetooth connection.

Microsoft has not yet commented on the dozen problems exposed by users, but it is possible that big tech is aware, and although it is not popularly renowned for its support for foldables, the necessary corrections should be made soon.
