There is potentially negative news related to iPhone 15, which belie some rumors published just a few days ago by IceUniverse. According to another generally reputable insider, known as Revegnus or Tech_Reve, the Sony IMX903 sensor expected for the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or 15 Ultra, apparently) it will actually be destined for the iPhone 16 Pro. Appointment therefore to 2024, with the 2023 models which, at least as regards the rear main unit, will maintain exactly the same sensor as the models currently on the market, i.e. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The problem is that the information is also quite plausible: as we know Apple likes to sip innovations and hardware updates, and as regards the main sensor there have already been big news in 2022, with the move from 12 MP to 48 (naturally with 2×2 binning).

Naturally, as in all cases of conflicting rumors, it is difficult to determine who might be right or who is wrong: Revegnus is much younger on the IceUniverse scene, but he has already demonstrated the goodness of his rumors in various circumstances. By the way, when it comes to products that have not yet been launched, it is accepted that the development process is evolving and things can change at any time. AND there is still some time before September/October, and many things can still happen.

However, more potentially bad news comes from the supply chain. Due to the continuous increase in inflation, Revegnus always points out that the production cost of the new models has risen significantly – there is talk of as much as 20% for the standard iPhone 15 and 15% for the Pros. Naturally it is not certain that these increases will be passed on to the final consumer, but at the same time it is unlikely that Apple will absorb them all.

In this regard, it’s worth mentioning for context that just a few hours ago we reported to you that TSMC is apparently doing enough struggles with the first attempts at mass production of the Apple A17, the next generation SoCs, which will be built on the 3 nm process. It is true that the A17s are expected only on the two Pro models, while the others should adopt the A16 which is on board the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
