In recent months, rumors had circulated about Apple’s intention to replace the classic side pressure buttons for volume adjustment on the next iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max with a single capacitive rocker, equipped with tactile feedback to simulate the click the button and it responded to skin contact.
These assumptions were based on CAD drawings which showed how this key would be made. Apple, however, would later decide not to make this design change anymore due to unspecified “unresolved technical problems”.
In any case, it should only be affected by a modification the switch that is currently used to mute the ringer, which has always been present on the iPhone. The latest rumors would point to a customizable pressure key, called the “action” key, similar to the one on the Apple Watch Ultra, which will be used not only to mute the volume, but also for other functions when used in combination with the other keys lateral.
According to what was stated on Twitter by a leaker who is believed to be a fairly reliable source, the volume up button pressed in combination with the power key will no longer be used to shut down the device or force restart it. This pattern will remain, but the combination will be changed to action key pressed at the same time as the power key
Action Buttons:
I have some (small) info regarding the action button on iPhone 15 Pro.
Firstly, the volume up + power button will no longer be used to power off the device, or “force-restart” it.
The sequence remains, but combination will be changed to action + power button.

Also, adds the leaker, within the camera app, the action button will replace the volume up key to take a photo. In detail, when used in camera, with a light press the key will focus, with a longer press it will take a photo and with a hard and long press it will start recording a video. A similar key, we recall, was present years ago on some smartphones including Sony’s Xperia.
