Just yesterday we told you Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions regarding the near future of the iPad, and a few hours ago something rather rare happened in the sector: another highly respected insider/leaker has indications that are quite different, especially at a first superficial analysis . In particular, there is “discord” on the much talked about foldable iPad. Kuo, you may recall, predicted it will arrive in 2024, while Gurman says he has “heard nothing” about it.
Gurman also provides some more information on the rest of the models arriving in 2024: the iPad Mini envisioned by Kuo is joined by the new generation of iPad Pro, finally with OLED display, and the new generation of the entry level model. Both for the latter and for the Mini, improvements to the data sheet are simply expected. On one detail, the two sources agree 100%: 2023 will be a particularly lean year for Apple tablets.
The additions in the iPad lineup will be the redesigned OLED iPad Pros in 2024 + entry level and Mini spec bumps. As I wrote before, 2023 will be a light year for the iPad (and Watch). Also not hearing anything about a foldable iPad in 2024. https://t.co/WsByewy7hm https://t.co/e33aCHuocB

And in any case rare for two sources, especially with such a high reputation, to disagree. It is true that one’s predictions never negate those of the other, also thanks to a careful choice of precise words – Gurman says he “heard nothing” about the foldable iPad, not that he heard that it won’t arrive; and as regards the other iPad models, we can speak of expansion compared to what Kuo said. We are listening, also because we are talking about a rather distant future – so many things can still change.
