Although Instagram has multiple functions to change different aspects of the app, it does not allow us to customize the way we present our posts on the profile.

However, this could change in the near future, as Instagram is testing some options to give some freedom when posting our images and videos.

New options to customize the post feed

As mentioned in Xda Developers, Instagram is testing new dynamics so that users have different options in the presentation of their publications. Apparently there are two modes.

On the one hand, Instagram is testing the possibility of cropping a part of the image so that it has more prominence when it appears on the profile. We can see an example of this dynamic in the screenshots you share Alessandro Paluzzi on his Twitter account.

This could make it easier to create those mosaic-like compositions complete with a series of images. Or it would avoid us having to previously go through an image editor. And on the other hand, if we see the screenshots shared by another Twitter userwe will see that the posts have a 4:5 ratio, which could be better adapted to the feed that we want to create with our posts.

At the moment, these new dynamics are in the testing phase, so we don’t know if the Instagram team will decide to finally implement it in the stable version. Let’s remember that another function that is still pending is the one that would allow us to reorganize our publications in the feed. An action that could be performed by simply dragging and dropping posts to rearrange them in the grid layout.

While Instagram has never mentioned any details about this dynamic, some users have shared screenshots showing that the feature is in development. So we will have to wait to see if all these functions that promise to give more options to customize the feed lead to its official implementation.
