It was on February 16 when Meta presented the official arrival of the Broadcast Channels on Instagram as a new way in which creators can deepen relationships with their respective communities.

It is a one-to-many way that will allow creators to disseminate information, updates, and anything else they want to reach their respective communities, using text messages, photos, videos, voice notes, and surveys.

One-to-many broadcast path

Like any new function in Meta platforms, the Broadcast Channels have had to spend a period of time until the global rollout begins to reach all users, a moment that has just arrived today, as shared by Mark Zuckerberg in his own Instagram channel.

Gone were the limited availability to select creators and users at launch, and more recently, the arrival of support for contributors last May.

Zuckerberg went so far as to suggest a series of channels to follow, although Instagram also offers a section of suggested channels that will be based on the “interest, interactions with creators and activity on Instagram” of users.

To do this, they will only have to go to the direct messages (DM) function, where in addition to suggestions, users will also have the possibility to search for other channels to follow up on. Also, Meta is testing some features to improve this feature.

For followers, Meta is testing the introduction of questions, and for creators, new possibilities to manage their channels, including the possibility of setting an expiration date for them, as well as being able to include a moderator for managing questions. followers, and even the ability to share a link or preview in a Story to expand your reach.

One of Meta’s current bets for its platforms

Channels are one of Meta’s current bets for its social platforms, where, in fact, it officially launched the channel function for WhatsApp, although for the moment it is available in Colombia and Singapore to allow monitoring of a series of organizations. officers.

There is no doubt that the channels will allow Meta and its users to be more independent, thus avoiding having to go to third-party platforms to carry out announcements, news, and everything that is usually carried out in the channels.

Time will tell us to what extent the channels within the Meta platforms will be able to evolve, and logically the measures that will be taken along the way as possible misuses begin to appear, at least from a policy perspective. communities of Meta.
