The veto of the United States towards Huawei has caused the Chinese company, far from sinking, to have had to reinvent itself, seeking to be as independent as possible from American technologies.

The result of this, among other things, is the launch of its own operating system, HarmonyOS, of which the new version HarmonyOS 3 has just been officially presented today.

The new version aims to be on as many smart devices as possible, allowing greater control and interoperability between them thanks to the integrated Super Device functions, which according to the company, will allow the control of 12 types of devices, including tablets, smart watches , smart glasses, printers, and more.

In this regard, Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong has revealed that HarmonyOS 2 is already on more than 300 million devices, with more than 170 million products using HarmonyOS 2 having been sold.

The evolution of your own operating system

As in other companies, the improvements are both internal and external.

Internally, there has been an optimization that allows apps to not only open and run faster, up to 14% compared to HarmonyOS 2, with up to 14% overall performance, but also consume less power, up to 11% less, which results in longer battery life, although optimizations have also allowed better use of internal storage space.

And of course, there have also been system stability improvements and bug fixes common to each update.

Externally, users will notice an update to the interface, being more modern, with a greater influence from Apple’s iOS, especially in the widgets that they can manage and customize according to their needs, with a greater number of them in this version.

It also has a renewed privacy center, where in addition to verifying the permissions of the applications, they will also be able to analyze the devices in search of possible threats, restrict apps considered insecure, among other aspects, to the point of being able to blur data and erase personal traits that they find in the photos when sharing them.

In terms of accessibility, HarmonyOS 3 is now more accessible for users who have visual and/or hearing disabilities, and on the other hand it allows two wireless headphones to be linked in a single mobile device, ideal for sharing the same music between two people; features customizable emojis and avatars, and more.

For now HarmonyOS 3 is available in beta in China, the time when it can be extended globally is unknown.

The first batch of devices to be updated is expected to take place in September 2022 in China, the list of devices that will benefit from it is unknown.
