There is no doubt that the dog is man’s best friend, and as such, he deserves to be treated as a member of the family, providing him with the food and care he needs to develop and live as long as his breed allows.

Also, in the same way as the human being, the dog requires games that help him develop his cognition or simply keep him entertained at home while his friend is busy with other activities.

In that sense, many choose to buy stuffed animals or balls. However, dogs may be able to play video games as shown by the initiative carried out by JoiPaw, a UK-based startupwhich consists of creating a series of video games for dogs with the purpose of obtaining results that help in the study of dementia that is formed in these animals.

In the video you can see how the dogs are able to fulfill the mission of targeting each mole that comes out of the hole and receiving a prize at the end.

As previously mentioned, JoiPaw founder Dersim Avdar points out that this goes beyond providing the dog with a means of entertainment:

We want to help dogs live healthier lives through enrichment and we also want to show the world how smart dogs are. […] Humans tend to empathize and take better care of others when we realize that they are closer to us than we think.

It is possible that in the future the use of these video games will transcend beyond the research field and be made available to the public to be downloaded and played by their dogs.
