Aslan frontman Christy Dignam has praised Bono for bravely opening up about discovering he had a secret half-brother.
On Sunday, the U2 legend revealed during an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs how his father Bob had a secret affair with another woman.
The rocker, 62, only discovered he had a half-brother 22 years ago.

Yesterday, Christy praised his famous pal for opening up about his family struggles – saying he didn’t need to.
He added: “I didn’t know. I only found out when I read the story.
“Things like that, like I think it’s great what they do with the humanitarian stuff but they are very private people and that’s a very private thing.
“I was even surprised he came out with it because usually he keeps that stuff under wraps.
“We look across the street and we think everyone else is doing better than us.
“Everybody has their problems.”
Aslan feature in This Is For Ukraine, airing tonight on Virgin Media One.
It follows the band as they work with the Irish Red Cross to bring together members of the Ukrainian community in Ireland to record a charity single to support the people and country in their time of need.
Aslan and the newly-formed choir will perform their take on the band’s 1986 hit This Is with all money raised going to charities in Ireland and Ukraine, including the Red Cross, to support their ongoing work to assist those impacted by the Russian invasion of the country.
Christy said: “The whole thing is just awful.
“Joe out of the band would be very stoic, he doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve.
“He’s not emotional but even Joe was in bits. He was bawling his eyes out. It was a humbling experience.”
This Is for Ukraine is on Virgin Media One at 9pm tonight.
