While much of the attention is channeled to Apple’s headset, it is rumored that Apple is working on a 27-inch mini-LED external displayhowever not all opinions row in the same direction and recently analyst Ming Chi Kuo also joined the chorus, stating that he will reach mass production in 2024 or early 2025.

Kuo posted an update on Twitter, in which he clearly explains that the device exists and that it will boast all the features one would expect from a high-end monitor.

Previously rumors had already emerged, which believed that the external display would integrate the technology ProMotion with refresh rates up to 120Hz and a proprietary chip developed by Apple.

According to Kuo, unlike the current mini-LED display technology Apple uses with the iPad Pro, which features a PCB backplane, the 27-inch monitor will have a glass backplane. This will allow you to have available a thinner panel, narrower bezels and offer a longer product life.

The statement apparently contrasts with a report by display analyst Ross Young, who said Apple has abandoned the project, despite actually working on a prototype, testing some panels designed for the model. Young was among those who initially predicted a launch of the monitor by 2022, then moving to Q1 2023, and finally declaring it dead altogether.
