Apple today presented various innovations thus confirming the rumors of the last few hours that indicated the imminent market debut of unpublished products. Not only MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and Max, but a renewed version of Mac Mini is also making its debut in the Californian company’s portfolio, now offered with Apple Silicon M2 and M2 Pro processors.

Greater power, Apple guarantees, especially with the Pro variant which “brings pro performance to Mac mini for the first time, allowing users to perform previously unimaginable high-performance workflows in such a compact design“. The starting price in Italy is 729 euros for the version with 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of unified memory and 256GB SSD. An important price cut, at least for the entry-level product, considering that Mac mini with Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU and 256GB SSD was offered at 819 euros (now no longer available).

With even more performance at a lower starting price, Mac mini with the M2 chip offers incredible value for money. And for those looking for powerful pro performance, Mac mini with the M2 Pro chip is a desktop like no other in its class – Greg Joswiak, Apple’s SVP Worldwide Marketing

The new Mac minis offer the ability to use up to two monitors on the M2 model and up to three with the M2 Pro, plus they feature faster CPUs and GPUs than before, more memory bandwidth and a more powerful media engine. On both Apple has installed an advanced thermal system to ensure high performance for long work sessions.

The new Mac mini comes with up to 24GB of unified memory and 100Gbps of memory bandwidth. Apple specifies that apps such as Adobe Photoshop are 50% faster than the Mac mini M1, as well as Final Cut Pro is “twice as snappyThis is mainly made possible by the ProRes acceleration available with the M2 chip.

APPLE MAC MINI M2 PRO

With the Pro variant you have up to 32GB of memory, a CPU up to 12-cores (8 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores) and a GPU up to 19-cores. Here the memory bandwidth is double that of Apple M2 (200Gbps). Compared to Apple M1 the Neural Engine is 40% faster, ideal for fast image processing with lower power consumption. The company claims speeds that are 14 times faster than the fastest Intel-based Mac mini model (Intel Core i7 6-core 3.2GHz, UHD Graphics 630, 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD).

Apple specifies that “gaming performance is up to 15x faster than the fastest Intel Mac mini model (Intel Core i7 6-core 3.2GHz, UHD Graphics 630, 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD).

Mac mini uses 100% recycled aluminum in the shell, recycled rare-earth elements in the magnets, recycled tin in the logic board solder, and ore in the circuit board plating. It also has 35% recycled plastic in some components. The packaging is made up of 96% fibre.

Apple Mac mini M2 and M2 Pro can be pre-ordered today January 17, deliveries will start on January 24, or the day when the two models will be freely purchasable at Apple Stores and authorized resellers. There is also the possibility of making an exchange through the Trade In program.
