There will be “significant” changes in the iOS 16 GUI: just a notch below what could be called a profound makeover. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. The reporter says he expects “new ways to interact” with the system – a somewhat cryptic phrase that can be explained, at least partially, with what was said some time ago in relation to a notification system update – and some brand new first party apps. Some new health tracking features may also debut.

Previous rumors have talked about InfoShack, which should be a sort of “mega widget” super customizable by the user, but at least for the moment there are no concrete updates in this regard. It is also said that it will improve the customization possibilities of the “Full Immersion” mode, in which distractions are reduced to focus on a specific task. However, there may also be some bad news: it seems that the first generation iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE, smartphones released between 2015 and 2016, have come to an end and will stop at iOS 15.

In exactly three weeks, on June 6, WWDC 2022 will begin, the developer conference and one of the most important events of the year of the Apple – comparable to what I / O represents for Google. We expect the new version of the operating system will be one of the main topics of the opening keynote and of the entire event, which will be present again, albeit with a limited number of participants, after the years of the pandemic. Of course, it should be in good company: watchOS, for example, could receive a new low-power mode and quality updates of the atrial fibrillation detection system.

Usually WWDC is mostly dedicated to software, but this year new hardware products may also arrive – MacBook, in particular. And even more specifically a new generation of Air, completely designed around Apple Silicon chips. Certainties in this sense are still few as there has been talk of a postponement on several occasions.
