Google is improving the dynamics of wireless headphones on Android thanks to a new feature based on Fast Pair.

A dynamic that will not be unknown to you, since it has been one of the functions that AirPods have for a long time. This is how Google’s proposal will work.

This is how the “automatic switch” between Android devices will work

As the Google team mentions, some Fast Pair compatible headsets will soon offer automatic device switching. What does this mean? That you can count on the same dynamics offered by AirPods, which detect which device (iPhone, iPad, etc.) you are using to automatically link, without you having to perform an extra action.

A dynamic that will also be possible on Android, as detailed by the Google team:

Our audio switching technology is based on Fast Pair to use contextual information about what you’re listening to to change the audio based on your actions. […] For example, if you’re watching a video on your tablet and get a notification on your phone, the audio from your headphones won’t switch to your phone. But if you get a phone call, the audio from your headphones will make the switch.

So your headphones will automatically switch between Android devices, without you having to do anything manually. And this system will have a plus, since it will analyze what is most relevant to carry out the “automatic change”.

As explained by Google, this function will not consider that a mobile notification is relevant enough to interrupt the user’s content on the tablet, but it will give priority to a phone call and perform automatic device switching.

And if this dynamic doesn’t seem practical for you, Google will allow you to customize some settings to suit your needs. The Google Pixel Buds Pro will be one of the first earphones to offer this dynamic, but over time it will also be included in Sony and JBL products.
