Apple presents the new MacBook Pro and iMac 2023 with M3 chip

The American apple had a night event called Scary Fast on the eve of Halloween, during which it quickly presented its new range of M3 processors and also the devices that will carry them, we are referring to the new iMac and MacBook Pro from 2023. Today it’s time to familiarize ourselves a little with what they bring to the table, since it is no wonder a launch of new computers from Apple.

New Apple M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max chips

Well first things first, Apple’s new M3 chips promise superior performance than their predecessors in both graphics and CPU tasks. These new chips have a 3nm manufacturing node and deliver up to 2.5X faster GPU rendering than the previous generation. As if that were not enough, they support hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading. There are 3 models:

  • M3 Standard: 8 CPU cores, 10 GPU cores and up to 24GB of unified memory.
  • M3 Pro: 12 CPU cores, 18 GPU cores and up to 128GB of unified memory.
  • M3 Max: 16 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores and up to 128GB of unified memory.

All variants consist of a 16-core Neural Engine for AI-related tasks, it should be added.

Without making many external changes, there comes a new MacBook Pro available in 14 and 16-inch versionsNot to mention that the user can choose between the standard M3 chip, the M3 Pro or the M3 Max, as always, it is highly configurable when checking out. It cannot be missed to mention that the Touch Bar disappears from this laptop, in its place, we will have the Touch Bar Keyboad.

Be that as it may, in both models awaits us Liquid retina XDR display with 3K resolution, 1,600 nits maximum brightness, 120Hz refresh rate and True Tone. Likewise, these laptops run macOS Sonoma and promise up to 22 hours of battery life.

MacBook Pro 2023

In terms of price, This MacBook Pro M3 will have a starting price of 2,029 euros in its 14-inch version, while the 16-inch variant starts at 3,049 euros. That said, reservations start now, but general availability is from November 7, 2023.

iMac 2023 with M3 chip

With the 2023 iMacs, Apple took the previous model, added the new M3 chip and said “my work here is finished.” In this sense, we can expect the same design and the recognizable 24-inch 4.5K retina display.

When purchasing the computer we can choose between a M3 chip with 8 CPU cores and 8 GPU cores, or one with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. Likewise, RAM options range from 8GB to 24GB, while SSD storage is 256/512GB (depending on the model) and can be expanded up to 2TB. As you might expect, it retains the high-fidelity six-speaker system and Face Time camera, as does the connectivity and input options from the previous generation.
