Now, those sensations, on paper, are what the new Redmi Note 13 Pro+ thanks to an hour of specifications that attracts a lot of attention and a design that moves away from what we had seen in this family until now. Design and screen
As we are going to see throughout the comparison, we are facing a complete generational change. This is something that we can check from the design section.
While the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ maintains lines more similar to those of previous generations, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ changes to incorporate cameras directly on the back, without a module as such.
In addition to the finishes (we have a vegan leather finish for the 13 Pro+), what changes is the resistance. From IP53 with Gorilla Glass 5 screen of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, we move to IP68 certification with Gorilla Glass Victus display on the Redmi Note 13 Pro+.
The biggest change is that difference in certification, since The new generation is more resistant to dust and, above all, water. In addition, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has aluminum sides. We can say that it has taken the definitive leap and is more in the high-end framework.
On the screen we also have differences. Both have a 6.67-inch OLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate and support for Dolby Vision, but Peak brightness increases from 900 nits on the 12 Pro+ to 1,800 nits on the 13 Pro+.
It is brighter, but also has a slightly higher resolution, going from a density of 395 pixels per inch to 446 pixels per inch. You need to have your phone in your hands, but it also seems that this panel makes better use of the frames if we look at both the dimensions of the phone and the images.
Processor and battery
Let’s go inside because there are not so many differences here, although it is clear that the SoC is already important enough to opt for one or the other.
The first thing is that the battery is identical in both models. This means that they have 5,000 mAh with 120 W wired charging, being two of the most powerful mobile phones today in this sense. None have wireless charging, so there are no differences in this section.
Now, the chosen SoC is another story. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has an SoC MediaTek Dimensity 1080 manufactured in a 6 nanometer lithography with eight cores: two at 2.6 GHz and six at 2 GHz. It is accompanied by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and the memory is UFS 2.2.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra manufactured in 4 nanometers with eight cores: two at 2.8 GHz and six at 2 GHz. It is accompanied by 12 or 16 GB of RAM and the memory is UFS 3.1, much faster than that of the previous generation.
Apart from the processing difference, The Dimensity 7200 Ultra’s GPU is also more powerful and much more modernwhich is going to play a key role in certain aspects of heavy applications, especially in video games.
Cameras
And if we talk about the camera, it is the only section in which, really, we do not find any difference between the two generations. The sensors are exactly the same, as well as the focal lengths and the maximum video resolution capacity.
- Major: 1/1.4-inch 200-megapixel sensor with 0.56-micron pixels and f/1.7 aperture lenses with OIS.
- wide angle: 1/4-inch 8-megapixel sensor with 1.12-micron pixels and f/2.2 lenses.
- Macro 2 megapixel f/2.4.
We may find some differences in processing due to ISP of each of the processors, but both being MediaTek, there shouldn’t be a big difference.
We really liked the camera of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ when we did the analysis, so we expect the same good results from the new generation.
Price and conclusion
Apart from all the features and differences, it is clear that one of the most important points is the price. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ was launched at 499 euros and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has been launched in China for 2,199 yuan in its most expensive variety, which is about 280 euros to change.
When it arrives in our territory, that price will rise considerably, but we cannot anticipate what it will be nor do we want to play at guessing a window. What we can do is comment that, if you are looking for only a camera, both will give you a very, very similar, if not identical, experience.
However, The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is more durable, has a more premium build, a brighter screen, and a superior processor with what this implies in order for it to last longer at a good level.
