Nintendo Switch Pro could be cancelled: What has happened?

We’ve been hearing rumors about the Nintendo Switch Pro for a long time. We are talking about one of the consoles most desired by players, despite the fact that it has never been a certainty or a reality. None of these rumors have been convincing enough or materialized into evidence. However, the fans of the Japanese company have always harbored hope that it ends up happening. Therefore, the last hour brings us bad news.

The news of Nintendo Switch Pro is not positive at all

During the Digital Found Direct Weekly podcast, we have had some news about Nintendo Switch Pro. According to John Linneman, it seems that it was a reality that the Japanese company was developing this superior console to the classic -the current one-. John Linneman cited several developers as main sources for the news, stating that the Nintendo Switch Pro release has finally been cancelled. It will not go on sale or be presented.

About a year or so ago, Nintendo Switch Pro rumors spread like wildfire. Virtually all the players took it for granted that it was going to happen. The current Nintendo Switch it has admittedly dated hardware and is crying out for an updated model. The rumors made a lot of sense, so an update to the Nvidia Tegra X1 SoC developed in 2015 was expected.

John Linneman speculates that Nintendo is concerned about a situation similar to what happened with the Wii U or even the Gamecube. Both consoles did very well with gamers, but had terrible sales numbers. Thus, the company has come to conclude that they are only going to be successful with every second generation. That is the reason why they do not bet on Nintendo Switch Pro.

How likely is this information to be wrong?

The big question that arises now is how true this information is. Can we trust this podcast? Digital Found Direct Weekly is a program well known for its tests. Some tests that are usually deep and well treated, with large sources. Therefore, it is a medium with a reputation. They have people very involved and well placed in the video game industry. In fact, they were the first to leak information about Nintendo Switch; more specifically, on the mentioned SoC Nvidia Tegra X1.

They also confirmed that the Nintendo Switch would have a different “clock speed” when docked. All this information came long before the famous Japanese company officially announced and presented the long-awaited console.. All the data that Digital Found Direct Weekly ended up being true. Therefore, the cancellation of Nintendo Switch Pro is not confirmed, but we can take it very seriously.
