NVIDIA ends production of GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 SUPER GPUs

Information released this Thursday, 10th, states that NVIDIA ended the production of the RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 SUPER video cards this week. Both models were launched in 2019 by the company reaching the mid-range GPU segment, however, the standard version brings 6 GB of memory against 8 GB of RAM of the beefier option.

In addition to these two models, the manufacturer also announced the RTX 2060 in 2021 with 12 GB of memory and a focus on mining, a model that apparently did not have its production completed this month. According to Chinese media, NVIDIA is no longer shipping the cards to retailers and availability is expected to end soon once supplies run out.

On its official website, NVIDIA should replace the RTX 2060 and 2060 SUPER with other mid-range GPUs with similar specs and the same price range. As a recent Steam report reveals, the RTX 2060 appears as the second most used graphics card by the gaming community, surpassed only by the GeForce GTX 1080.

This data shows that the component has become popular in the segment by equipping the computers of many players. The high popularity may be related to the support of raytracing (“ray trace”, in free translation), resource capable of improving the visual quality in games compatible with the resource.

With the RTX 2060 exiting the market, users are expected to flock to the RTX 3050 looking for value for money, current features and performance befitting the product category.
