Windows 10 has received several official wallpapers since its release in 2015 such as the version for Windows 10S, one for light mode and even one for Windows 365. Now user @XenoPanther has discovered yet another variant made for Windows 11 which was included in a leaked internal system test build.

The build in question is 21380 created in May 2021, about a month before Windows 11 was officially released by Microsoft.

As we can see below, the image brings lighter colors compared to the default Windows 10 “Hero” wallpaper, which brings greater saturation. It was believed that the image would be used with the dark theme of Windows 11, but it was abandoned during the final development of the system.

According to Windows Central, the subtle change between the two wallpapers may indicate that Microsoft planned to release Windows 11 as an update to Windows 10, but decided that a new version would be better, as the changes to the Start Menu, Taskbar and others system items were too radical.

Additionally, a scrapped version of the Windows 11 “Bloom” wallpaper was also found in the Windows 11 Tips app.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft has already announced new plans for Windows 11, such as the discontinuation of the Cortana assistant and the launch of Windows Copilot.
