Twitter introduced the “Custom Navigation” option for subscribers to the Blue premium service also on Android. In other words, it is possible customize the tabs that appear in the navigation bar positioned at the bottom. It can be argued that the main advantage is that now you can hide the Spaces icon, which is the Clubhouse-like “audio chat” initiative, whose dissemination does not seem to proceed particularly quickly. But of course everyone is free to customize the bar as they prefer.

This however it doesn’t mean that Twitter has already decided to give up on Spaces, quite the contrary. Just a few days ago, the company announced the arrival on Android of more information on the bar (banner?) At the top of the feed showing active Spaces, for example organizer name, related Topics and users who have shared tweets. The same functionality will arrive “soon” on iOS. The banner cannot be removed, not even via the Twitter Blue premium subscription.

The Custom Navigation has been an exclusive of iOS for some time, which since its launch is the best platform for Twitter Blue when considering the number of functions proposed. With the announcement that we report in this article, we can say that the Android client almost closed the gap: the only thing he still lacks is theme support. While we’re at it, let’s summarize the full benefits of the subscription (which, remember, is not yet available in Italy at the moment):

  • Articles without advertising
  • Folders in bookmarks
  • Custom Navigation
  • Top items
  • Reader mode
  • Cancel tweet
  • Customizable app icon (Android and iOS only)
  • Themes (iOS only)
