Microsoft is expected to introduce new portable devices from the Surface line in 2023, and according to website sources windows centerthere will be big changes in the notebook lineup that include new processors and models with unprecedented sizes.

People familiar with the matter said on Wednesday (19) that the Microsoft may launch Surface Go 4 with a custom version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c, serving as an alternative to Intel processors. The sources do not reveal which generation will be used, but the best bets are the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 or 7c+ Gen 3.

The new compact 2-in-1 is supposedly known to Microsoft employees by the code name “Tanta”. The expectation is that the new version with an ARM-based processor will offer similar performance to the Surface Go 3, but with more energy efficiency to ensure an increase in the battery life of the device.

It is possible that the option with Snapdragon 7c is the first in the series to support 5G, while the versions with Intel Pentium and Core would be limited to 4G LTE. Additionally, the Surface Go 4 is believed to have minor design changes but retain its compact 10.5-inch form factor.

And speaking of portability, the new rumors also indicate that the Microsoft will release a more compact version of the Surface Pro at just 11 inches, it would be ideal for those looking for the powerful hardware of the 13-inch Surface Pro, but without taking up too much space in their backpack or desk.

The 11-inch Surface Pro, codenamed “Luxor”, would have thinner edges than the Surface Go 4, as well as a more fluid screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, better storage and RAM configurations, and faster processor options from Intel, as well as a possible successor generation to the ARM-based Microsoft SQ3.

Windows 11 is receiving several optimizations to ensure its responsiveness on compact devices, which could corroborate the rumors. So far, no comment on the next generation of the Surface line has been given by Microsoft.
