In May of last year Twitter surprised by launching a new subscription model. We are talking about Twitter Blue, a premium access that allows access to some additional functions at a price of $2.99 per month. Although it seems that very soon the price will rise significantly. Or this is what emerges from the message on Twitter that Matt Navara has published and in which we can see the message sent by Twitter to customers in the United States informing them that the price of the premium subscription becomes $4.99 a month. Twitter Blue starts to cost $4.99 per month In this way, and as you can see in the message that heads these lines, the price of Twitter Blue increases significantly. What is not so clear is whether it will continue to be worth paying for this service. Some of the features are very interesting, such as the ability to undo a tweet if there are misspellings, its customizable navigation bar, or the ability to access ad-free articles from different websites. But the truth is that it is not that it offers such interesting features as to pay $ 4.99 per month. In the statement they have sent, they indicate that the rate goes up because “it helps us continue to develop some of the functions that they have been requesting, improve the current ones that they already love and maintain our mission of supporting journalism.” Although the reality is different. The company blames Elon Musk for the drop in revenue at Twitter during the second quarter of the year. The magnate and CEO of Tesla wanted to buy the social network for 44,000 million dollars, betting on an unnamed subscription model that would attract more than 100 million subscribers. But finally Musk has decided to withdraw, causing an earthquake in the social network. Regarding the price increase, say that the company has already implemented the new rate for subscribers who access Twitter Blue, although users who already have an active premium subscription will have a grace period until October, where they will be able to decide whether unsubscribe from this service or go from paying $2.99 to $4.99 per month. Let us remember that, at the moment Twitter Blue is available in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so this measure does not affect Spain at the moment. Although at least we already know that, when this payment service arrives in our country, it will have a price of 4.99 euros per month. Is it worth paying for the advantages it offers? That will be decided by the users, but the future of this service does not look very promising. >
